Q: How do I advertise in Coffee News?

A: It’s easy to advertise in Coffee News. The best way to get started is by calling us at (206) 650-2319. Or contact us using our online contact form.

Our process begins with a brief phone call so we can each learn more about each other’s business. We’ll answer your questions about Coffee News. And, you’ll tell us a little about your business or organization. If at the end of that short conversation we both feel Coffee News might be useful for your business or organization, then we’ll schedule time to meet. This meeting is where we talk in more detail about your goals as they relate to marketing and advertising and about how Coffee News works. Our goals here are:

  1. Share enough information to determine if Coffee News is a good fit for you.
  2. If it is a good fit, then we begin the process of creating your marketing concept and message.

Then we continue our process to produce, publish and fine-tune your ad to help you get the results you want.

Important: Since only one ad for each business type is allowed for each edition of Coffee News, many ad categories fill up quickly. If you are interested in considering using Coffee News to help promote your business or organization, please let us know as soon as possible so we can make sure your space is available.

A: Since October of 2004.

Q: Can restaurants advertise in Coffee News?

A: As a courtesy to all our restaurant and coffee shop clients in Seattle, we offer the protection that no business in the restaurant industry will be allowed to advertise in Coffee News. Although most restaurants would love to have an ad, they are disallowed automatically. The reason -- a Burger King ad in Coffee News, for example, would have every McDonald's refusing to carry Coffee News. No restaurant would welcome their competitor's efforts to take away their customers right inside their own premises, so they would naturally kick them out -- and Coffee News too.
We do offer restaurants carrying Coffee News a free listing on our website that provides the different locations where our readers can pick up a copy of Coffee News.

Q: How much does it cost to place an ad in Coffee News?

A: Ads in Coffee News are less expensive than other print media, so the small businessperson can easily afford to advertise regularly. We publish five editions in Seattle, and you may choose to put your ad in any one or all of our editions. So unless another business in your "category" of business is already advertising in the edition, it is open to you. That's because all ads in Coffee News are “EXCLUSIVES”, meaning only one kind of an ad/service can run at a time in each area edition, allowing OUR advertisers to lock out their competition — unlike any other publication in town!

Q: Why do you recommend that the ad run for at least 13 weeks?

A: Your advertising plan should be precisely as long as your business plan. If you were promoting a concert that will be held on Wednesday night, then to buy advertising to run the following Thursday would not be smart. The only thing that might be less smart would be to buy a 13-week advertising schedule for a business that plans to be around longer than 13 weeks. A good ad is a seed for a fruit tree. Repetition is its water. Weekly consistency is its sunlight. The longer your seed is allowed to grow in the mind of the public, the greater and greater your harvests will be. What size harvests do you want to see? For more, read CoffeeFax article #2: Repetition.

Q: How do I pay for my ad?

A: We offer you a lot of flexibility in how you choose to pay for your ad. You may pay for the ad by cash, money order, cheque or Pre-authorized Debit. A minimum of four weeks fees are required in advance. We will bill monthly, quarterly or annually.

Q: Do I need to arrange for ad design?

A: If you already have camera-ready material -- GREAT! If you don't, well then that's great too because we will work with you to create one. The set up fee is waived on insertion orders of 13 weeks or more. The one-time set up fee is typically $30.00.

Q: Can I change an ad now and then?

A: Yes, you can. There is never a charge for ad changes, which may be phoned or faxed in.

^top

Q: How do I get a link on your Coffee News Network page?

A: Clients who advertise a minimum of 13 weeks receive a free link in the Coffee News Network section of our website. We will provide a link to your existing Web site, or to a Web page, created by us for you, that provides your potential clients even more information about you and your services.
